How the Jiffy Stand Works? Explanation with Photos.
« on: February 22, 2012, 06:38:42 PM »
I have heard many new to Harley motorcycle riders talking about the "fear" that the bike will roll forward, and fall off the jiffy stand.
Don't worry!  The bike will not fall, even if it is parked on a slightly downhill level.

  • At the fold up position. You can see that the latch (lower arrow) is "out" of the locking slot (upper arrow).

  • At the "out" position (not engaged yet)You can see that the latch is now lined up to the locking slot, but they are not mate yet. :)

  • At leaning position (engaged).  As soon as you lean the bike to the ground, this action will push (engage) the latch into the locking slot, and at this position, the bike can not move forward to disengage the jiffy stand from the locking slot, as long as the bike is leaning on the jiffy stand.

Now, you can take a deep breath! :)
