What do you really want your bike to have?
« on: September 23, 2010, 11:50:46 PM »
I know that you want to have everything for your bike, but then there are several common parts that most of the folks consider more than the others.

  • Good looking bike
  • A lot of power
  • Loud pipe
  • Color (black, red, silver,...
  • Bagger
  • etc...

Of course, every one has a personal preference, such as mine is power and black color.  I don't care much about loud pipe.:)

I am curious of what are the most important parts that you consider this is the bike that I gotta have? Color, power (HP, torque), loud pipe, watercool, bagger, or/and any thing else.

Wanna add one more item to the list..what I consider the most important of all..
Reliability...ya gotta have convidence in your ride..that inner peace of mind while you ride.
After that...bagger...need that fairing and storage for all the junk I haul ;D
The more you know..the less you don't know.

My bike is just the way I want it right now. I have detachable saddles for short trips. I have another detachable big bag that goes on my sissy bar. I have to have loud pipes so I put on V&H COMP. Series 2-1 exhaust. I had to have alot of power so I bought a v-rod. I then wanted more power so I modded it further. I added SE stages 2 cams, SE Destroyer 58mm throttle bodies, SE Destroyer injectors then tuned it all on dyno with SEPST. Bike made 143hp/90tq. I ran an 11.90 @ 115 MPH before any mods.

That is extreme mod for a lighter bike.  I probably have to say you are flying, not riding. :)
What the mileage will be?

It will fool alot of people power wise. It should go 120-125 MPH in the 1/4 mile pretty easy.

I think he is asking about MPG, not MPH.

I get about 35 MPG if I'm easy on it.

Not bad at all with the power of the bike.
I wish my bike has that much HP and torque.

Its a totally different bike than what most HD people are used to. It also holds the road good too. I had this bike topped out at 174 MPH on my GPS. The speedometer only reads 150 so I took the GPS for an exact number. That was crazy I know but I wanted to see what it would do.

You have a new profession now. :)
I bet a lot of people will not mind to pay to get what you have done to your bike.

It was around $2000. I know that sounds expensive but I got a tuner and dyno time, cams, throttle bodies, injectors. I already had Vance & Hines Comp 2-1 exhaust installed. If I keep it below 5,000 rpms it is pretty docile about like a air-cooled HD but give it a bunch of throttle and it turns into a stout bike.

With the power and speed that your bike has, I don't think it is expensive at all.
BTW. I am installing a TW6-6 CAM to my bike.  Hopefully, I can get closer to 100 HP and more torque.
Wish me luck.  I am so nervous on this project.

I would say that with just cams. If you have the 103 engine, you be getting pretty close. You will need a higher flow airfilter and a better flowing exhaust to take advantage of a cam change. Then you'll need a tuner to get it all running like it should. I say good choice for going with a cam  swap on an ultra. Its a big bike so IMO a good low-mid range cam  is just what it needs to get going alot easier.

What do I want my bike to really have..this is a bit off topic but I want my leg throwen over the saddle, some open road where it can do what it was built for, stretch out on some straightaways and carve thru some canyon roads and see the country and I want it to have the best owner possible.
The more you know..the less you don't know.
