Will you let your friend borrow your bike?
« on: December 18, 2010, 04:10:54 PM »
Please HONESTLY tell me whether you will let your friend borrow your bike for a day, or a few hours.

Why, or why not?  What is the unwritten rule?

Remember that your friend may get upset with you, and you may loose a friend.

To me, my bike is my "girl-friend", and my best companion.

I hear you.
I think this is a very sensitive matter, so I have posted your post on the other forum, and oh boy!  Everyone jumps right in.

To me, it is a BIG NO!

If the guy doesn't own a bike, then go to buy, or rent one.  For sure, it is not a good friend to put your friend in such situation.

I feel the same thing!
Too much time and work on my bike, and I don't feel good at all, if anyone else sit on it, let alone ride it.
Alright! my friends may sit on it, but not doing anything else.

I only let very few friends ride my bike and it is only for a few minutes. My bike is a total animal that will jump up and bite you real hard. I kinda warn them that it is a powerful bike.

Well the ones that I would let have more experience than me. My bikes has almost 75 to 80 more HP than what are riding. I have it modded out pretty good and it puts out 150hp at the ground. It is capable of 0 to 60mph in 3 sec. flat goes to a 100 in under 7 sec. and run 10 sec. 1/4 mile passes. This is all motor no power adders. So the few that do want to ride it go real easy.

Now, you make me want to know and see your bike.
Share some pix, and tell me a little more about the bike. What engine, what mods that you have done to your bike.
Thanks much in advance.
Nick
BTW: Sorry to hijack the post.  Maybe, Skim_b_kool can start a new post about his bike, then it would be very interesting about his powerful bike.

I plan on this in the near future. I'm a new member and are justing learning about your site. I like it pretty well so far. My bike is not an air-cooled bike first off. I ride an 11 model v-rod and I have a 1250cc motor. The bike weights less than 800lbs with me on it. I have everything you can get out of the SE catalog put on this bike. Most of this stuff is straight from the HD Destroyer drag bike. I also use the SEPST to tune the bike with. I run a V&H competition series 2-1 exhaust. I ran an 11.90 @ 115 MPH 1/4 mile time in stock trim. So I'm looking for somewhere around the high 10sec range now.

Thanks for the explanation. You have a very nice bike there.
I like to travel far, so I need to have a touring bike, but if I have some extra money, then a second bike will be a vRod. :)
Thanks for the comment about the site. You know that you have a free and the best photo album on this site.
Please ask any question about using this site, if that is the case.

I have rode it about 10,000 miles in 10 months. I really like this bike. It has plenty of power and the newer models have a 5 gallon tank. So they will go about 175 miles on a tank. They also hold the road very well. They have brembo brakes so they stop pretty fast too. I think it would make a prefect second bike.
